Lawsuit on 4% State Employee Retirement Contribution Filed Against State

Today, February 13, 2012, the State Employee Union Coalition, as well as each individual union (MCO, SEIU 517M, AFSCME, MSEA, and the UAW) filed a lawsuit challenging the new pension laws for both the Defined Benefit and the Defined Contribution members.

The law enacted as PA 264 was done by the legislature without the approval of the Civil Service Commission.

Lawsuit as filed

On Friday, February 10th, 2012, MCO also filed an Unfair Labor Practice (ULP) against the Office of the State Employer on the same matter.
