Message to DRF Members 6.6.25
June 6, 2025
DRF members,
Our request for a petition to vote on the hybrid 12 hr / 8 hr shift schedule has been submitted to the Department and they have received it. They are in the process of confirming that we can proceed with the process and we should have the official decision very soon.
Just a recap on what will happen:
If we get the approval to proceed with the petition, we will immediately schedule a date to come to the facility and conduct the petition. The petition works like this- if more than 50% of the officers sign the petition in favor of having an official vote, then we will notify the Department that the membership wants to vote. The petition IS NOT the vote, it’s just a show of interest.
If the petition passes, then the Department will provide us with the breakdown of what positions would be on the 12 hr and 8 hr shifts, the number of officers assigned to each shift, newly identified bid jobs, etc. so you know exactly what you are voting on. For the 8 hr shifts, the warden chooses if the RDOs are set or rotating. There will not be any separate topics on the voting ballot, it will be only be to decide to go to the new hybrid schedule or stay on what you have now.
Before the formal vote, we will hold informational meetings at the facility to provide all of the above mentioned info for you to review. We will then set the formal vote day soon afterwards and hold the vote in person at the facility. Anyone who will be on RDO or leave on the day of the vote will receive a link via email/text.
We expect an official answer any day now, and as soon as it comes we will send another notification to all of you immediately.
