The MCO Steward's Manual is in the process of being edited to reflect changes made to Michigan Civil Service rules. (Read about these changes at mco-seiu.org/civilservice.) Please check back for updates.
As a chapter leader, it’s a good idea to research past decisions that might have impacted a situation you are facing now. Also, your members may not realize that many situations they encounter in the workplace have been settled at arbitration. Part of being a good leader is educating members on past actions and how the outcomes shape their experiences today.
Research past decisions in our arbitration database. If you have never used the database before, you can get the log in credentials from Grievance Coordinator Stephanie Short.
If you need to file a grievance, forms and information are available below:
Tips for using the grievance forms:
- Download the form. Save a blank copy on your computer. Then, always work from the blank copy you saved.
- Or, you can download the form again each time you need to write a grievance.
- Do not go to a grievance you already wrote up, delete the text you added, then start typing a new grievance. Your old text may be carried over, even if you can't see this in the form.
