Young Workers Committee Launch Application

Because we have had a lot of interest, Michigan Corrections Organization is forming a young members’ committee to help steer the direction of the Union to ensure member strength in the future. As both the corrections industry and labor are constantly changing, it is essential for members to take a role in shaping their union to fit their needs.

To kick off this young members’ committee, we are asking all MCO’s younger members to fill out this application if they are interested in participating in a two-day meeting that we are planning for late-August.

This will be a meeting to bring together the next generation of officers to discuss the future of MCO, the corrections profession, and how we can adapt creatively to the changing industries.

This two-day meeting will be an opportunity for any young member to have an in-depth introduction to MCO. This includes, but is not limited to, meeting MCO central office staff and MCO members from across the state. Participants will also get a chance to get their creativity flowing through a series of breakout sessions all aimed at modernizing Michigan Corrections Organization and laying the foundation to build a Union of the Future.

Please fill out the application (link below) if you are interested in being a part of something new and exciting with your Union. Slots are limited. Applications are due by 4:00pm EDT on Friday, July 7th, 2017.
